National Day of the Child and 2024 Making a Difference Report
Message from Dr. Christine Chambers
November 20 marks National Day of the Child – the anniversary of the adoption of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child in 1989 – a landmark treaty outlining fundamental rights and protections for all children.
In IHDCYH's Strategic plan, Better Beginnings, Vibrant Childhoods, and Empowered Youth: Research that Makes a Difference, we committed to releasing annual highlights of our Institute's activities and investments, aligning with our strategic priorities to convene, champion, and capacity build. Today we are sharing our 2024 Making a Difference report and I am pleased to highlight our 20+ years of support for early career researchers via our partnership with the SickKids Foundation, the incredible response to the 10th anniversary of our IHDCYH Talks knowledge mobilization competition (voting is open for the 2024 competition until November 30!), and an event we hosted to convene research leaders in human development, child and youth health on 'Maintaining Momentum and Strategies for Sustainability' of research groups in Canada in partnership with the Maternal Infant Child and Youth Research Network (MICYRN) and the Perinatal & Child Health Research Annual Meeting.
Through collaboration and partnership across our activities and funding opportunities, the team at IHDCYH is proud to be fostering growth and equity across Canada's human development, child and youth health research community.
Sincerely,
Christine
Scientific Director of the CIHR Institute of Human Development, Child and Youth Health
